The Parable of Lost Son

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

June 3, 2007

Just back from church. Today’s topic was really amazing.
It’s actually about the lost son. I’ve already heard this story many times
since I was a Sunday school kid, but this time I came to a new way of
understanding the story. I’ve highlighted some points of today’s preaching.

1. God gives each of us a free will.

He wants us to decide by ourselves.

2. Ever since the child went away, the father kept
on praying each and every day believing that one day the son will come  home.

Even though our Lord has given us the right to choose and
decide, when we got into the wrong decision, He actually keeps on waiting for us to come back. Never
in a moment has He given up on us.

3. He’ll always forgive us like He always did
before.

All we need to do is come to His present, confessing our sin
and ask for forgiveness with humble. The lost son even aske for his father to accept him as his
paid servant, ‘cos he thought he was no longer worthy to be called his father’s
son. Once we ask for forgiveness,
He’ll cleanse our sins and never remember it anymore. No matter how many times
we have walked away from Him, He will
always wait on us faithfully.

4. Luke 15:22 “…. Bring the best robe and put it on
him…”

The robe means an immediate honor. It means the father honored
his son. Our Father is honoring us too…. As we walk  back to His domain, He will accept us as His beloved sons/daughters.

5. Luke 15:22 “…. Put a ring on his finger….”

A ring on finger means authority. It means all we have now
belong to him and we as His sons/ daughters have His authority. Authority for what? Authority for keeping us on
His way and walk with him in righteousness. We have Father’s authority to defeat any devils.
Devils cause sickness, poorness, etc. However, to be able to use this power, we
need to become His child. Not every
Christian is His child. Don’t let devils keep on stealing from us! Take a stand
now and use our authority!!! (in
today’s service, the pastor gave us an example about one silly leader that was
slapped by a satan worshipper  at
least dozen of times, in fact he was
willingly giving his cheek to be slapped because he took GOD’s words in bible literally. Remember about if we were hit
by someone once on our right cheek, then the bible told us to give our left
cheek also…? Haha…. really funny.
(but seems like I’m also doing the same as this leader did right now on
slightly different case).   Ps
Sandra reminded us that we have our authority, don’t let the devil step on us!
)

6. Luke 15:22 “…. and sandals on his feet….”

Sandals means new way, new path. God will provide us a new
path of our life when we decide to come back to Him.  Our life will never be the same again as we receiving Him as our
Lord, and our savior.

7. Luke 15:23 “Bring the fattened calf and kill
it…..”

This verse means celebration. It’s said
that when one sinner confess and repents from his sin, all of heaven is
rejoicing.

I feel really blessed by Ps Sandra’s
preaching. Countless time I’ve walked away from him, countless time I’ve
confessed and promised to never do it anymore, I just really hope that now is
for real. Perhaps I’ve never used His authority before, or maybe I just didn’t
know how to use it. But now, I hope everything will not be the same anymore…..

Myself Written in Words

Friday, June 1st, 2007

A bird needs more than wings to fly

So it won’t fall when reach the top

A man needs more than talents to
survive

So he won’t fall when reach the top

Human ask for greater mind

But that doesn’t keep him from
being blind

Human ask for gentle heart

But that doesn’t keep him from
being hurt

Something can’t be perfect

As words can’t stand without an act

No matter how hard you try

You’ll never be able to fly

I saw a lot

I read a lot

I heard a lot

But those were not enough

Sometimes I cried

Felt that nothing I did was right

But then I cheered up again

Coz someone took away my pain

Ups and downs

Being jerk and being clown

It doesn’t change a thing

I’m still me

This is myself you’ve known for
years

Together with all my strengths and
fears

Though I’m far away from being
perfect

I’m always giving my best, to
become as what you expect

I wish I could be someone for
everyone

But He decided it’s enough for me to always be there for someone…

So I pull myself together

And say I’ll be your angel for years
of my life
